Finland from Above

This book of photographs takes us to look at Finland from the air. We will be flying high enough to see far into the distance over the huge lakes and open waters but low enough to be able to pick out the fascinating details in the landscape, whether the work of nature or of man. We will be following three routes: from the Archipelago Sea to Kilpisjärvi, from Helsinki to Utsjoke and from the Gulf of Finland to Kuusamo. We will be able to see the sun sparkling on the waters of the lakes and sea, the light summer nights, the blazing colours of autumn and the gleaming white of the winter snow and to experience rainbows, spring floods, the mosaic of cultivated fields, the peculiar courses of meandering rivers, the amazing labyrinths of the mire surfaces and even a colony of basking seals on the outer islands. There will be surprises in store, things that we would never have expected to see in Finland, but we will also be delighted to be able to look at familiar things from a quite new perspective.
