Classic drama from Italian director, Michelangelo Antonioni, starring Eleonora Rossi-Drago as a young woman who gets swept into her new clique’s tempestuous lifestyle. Clelia (Rossi-Drago) moves into a hotel where she befriends several young women. On her first night there, one of the women, Rosetta (Madeleine Fischer), fatally overdoses after being rejected by her married lover.

In shock and in grief, Clelia loses her job, before becoming romantically involved with a man called Carlo (Ettore Manni). However, the other women look down on Carlo because of his poor income and background. A tangled web of deceit and betrayal forms as the women try to keep their own best interests at heart...
